The architecture of Campus WU is not only popular with visitors, it also receives accolades from the juries of national and international architecture competitions. The renowned Architectural Digest magazine ranked Campus WU among the nine best new university buildings around the world. The campus was designed by an international team led by the Viennese architectural firm BUSarchitektur, which drew up the master plan; The most striking building, the Library & Learning Center (LLC), was designed by internationally renowned architect Zaha Hadid.

Meidling is a traditional working-class district in west Vienna, but fast-gentrifying. Many former factories are converted into co-working spaces and fashion boutiques. The street market is adventurous and lively. The neighbourhood hosts Vienna's most famous club, U4, and is also a major railway hub. And it has hills, unlike East Vienna. Some parts are villagey, but the area has also seen some gang violence. Most bizarrely, an ice cream shop owner was found to have TWO of her ex-partners frozen in the same fridge as the vanilla! A spicy mix! Eugene will once again introduce us to this district in his familiar and much-appreciated manner.
