With spring being almost here, it is time again to enjoy walking around Vienna and discovering/re-discovering its most beautifull buildings.


The City Hall is one of the most impressive monumental buildings in Vienna. It was designed by Friedrich Schmidt and erected between 1872 and 1883. At that time, Emperor Francis Joseph made it a condition that the building should not be higher that the 99 metre of the Votiv Church. So Friedrich Schmidt used a trick: the tower itself is only 97,9 meters high, but with the Rathausmann placed on top, the building is 104,3 meters high.


The building is definetely worth visiting....
